This is hands down the ultimate coolest for kids. My husband who is a programmer and all around computer geek and the love of my life, and I spoke to a buddy of ours about this concept before our son was born. A dang search engine for kids, but not any search engine, a completely safe and controlled one.
And not just any safe and controlled one, one that was easy to use, for kids, little reading, lots of screenshots and glam, and boy does http://www.kidzui.com/ have all of the above! Not only can you fill out info, sex and age of your children, you can create their own little accounts you, yes…You…control! And every week you get a report in your email showing what your kids searched for and where they were.
Your kids can rate each site they go on, with all sorts of silly smiliey face emoticons like boring, fun, cute, cool, etc.(My daughter especially loves that part!) If you’re social site savvy think http://www.stumbleupon.com/ or http://www.streakr.com/ for kids. They can save their favorite sites, and they get some background sound action when they do that, which makes things ultra exciting. It pulls up screenshots of all the sites and pops those up for searching. So your kids just relax and look at all the websites they can choose from, it’s been wonderful to play with so far.
If you have kids , and you want them to have safer, controlled internet time that you can trust you can turn your back on to stir the sauce, or grab the load out of the dryer, this is it! Try it, you’re going to love it. It’s in Beta, so get in there and help make this a better program!
